Beatrice Kahl
Already as a 12 year old girl I was taught to play both the keyboard and the basspedals (analogous the Stummelpedal by Eko) by a visiting musician friend of my father's.
This keyboard with bass pedals always accompanying my father and brother on gigs and soon I arrived at a considerable ability on the instrument, which I later expanded on my Hammond A-100, built in the 1960s.
At 100 kilos the A-100 always required help to move and so I am delighted to have the Hammond XK-5, an instrument that does not compromise on technique but, on the contrary, with its big sound and A1 keyboard feel, represents a true inspiration for my playing, and I can carry it, set it up and break it down, alone!!
The nationwide concertizing pianist, keyboard and organist has occupied herself for many years principally with Jazz, Latin, Soul and Pop music. Along side her various studio work with, for instance, Thilo Wolf Big Band, John Davis, Melva Houston, Marquess and Joo Kraus, she greatly enjoys performing live with, among many others, Thomas Quasthoff, Chris de Burgh, Emma Lanford, Max Mutzke, Joan Faulkner, David A. Tobin. The touring has brought her, among other places, to Michigan (USA), to Switzerland and to France, where she performed often with the Béatrice Kahl & Gaby Schenke project, "NDW meets JAZZ".
Since the year 2000, Béatrice Kahl has acted as pianist, keyboard player, chorus Repetitor and MD supporter for various theatre productions at the Staatsschauspiel Hannover, TFN (Theater für Niedersachsen), Thalia Theater Hamburg, Stadttheater Fürth. It was there that she met the actress singer Elke Wollmann, with whom she performed the highly successful song evening "Hommage an Edith Piaf", after which followed several TV appearances on BR-alpha and 3-Sat in der Abendschau, on the New Year's Eve program of the Bayerischen Rundfunks with "Thilo Wolf & Friends" etc..
In February 2017, she premiered her second successful program, "Billie, Edith und Marlene". Soon after moving from North to South Germany in 2010, she became the permanent pianist of the Munich combo, "String of Pearls". In her own bands, "b.groovy" and "funky swirl" (an organ band), made up of highly skilled musicians from Munich, Hannover and Nuernberg, she combined her most important musical influences from Pop to Jazz and, in doing so, she fulfilled her fondest desire to rearrange Pop Hits in a jazz-soul format.
TV appearances with the Thilo Wolf Big Band, Elke Wollmann and the String Of Pearls: "Bayer. Filmpreis 2009", "ZDF-Fernsehgarten" 2005+2013, 20 Jahre Thilo Wolf Big Band 2012 (BR, 3sat), "50 Jahre Bayerisches Fernsehen- Daheim, die Gala" (2014), Bayerischer Filmpreis 2014 to 2017, Abendschau 2014 to 2016, Sternstunden-Gala since 2012 etc..
